WRITER–CONCEPT–STRATEGY Forethought, an interstate insurance consortium of funeral homes, was struggling to overcome peoples' reluctance to even talk about their product, let alone think about it. Most adults have an image of what their funeral should be like but end up not addressing it and leaving over 50 important decisions, like what clothes to be buried in, to grieving loved ones. WRITER–CONCEPT–STRATEGY The consortium agreed with me to focus this initial campaign on giving people permission to think about and discuss with loved ones what they want their funeral to be like. This had to be done carefully with a very inviting, light tone using euphemism. Henderson-Shapiro

WRITER-CONCEPT For one month prior to the official unveiling of the amusement park roller coaster, buzz could be generated with a mysterious bat signal outdoor campaign. At select high traffic sites, billboard extensions would be combined with klieg lights to pique curiosity. McCann

WRITER-CONCEPT ”Batman the Ride” was the first roller coaster to feature hanging carriages - a very exciting innovation in coaster technology. Billboard extensions of the hanging carriages could provide a great larger-than-life demonstration of how this thrilling new ride was not like any coaster known before. McCann

Popeyes / Cat Daddy Campaign

WRITER–CONCEPT Popeyes needed to remind both black and white audiences that their meals were flavored with New Orleans spices. My art director partner and I invented a cartoon dixieland jazz band of cool cats to scat about their favorite meals that they get at the Popeyes next door to their jazz club in the French quarter. They’re a five piece combo that showed up along with five new cajun meals. Radio script linked. McCann

Ford / Ranger Merchandise

WRITER-CONCEPT The Ford F-150 is the big, tough truck on the block. The Ranger is its mischievous “boy boy” little brother, but bad can be good - good marketing. Other trucks had their naughty little Calvin peeing on Ford decals and merchandise. I thought it was time for the Ford Ranger to have its personality iconified on stickers, hats, shirts, etc. JWT
